|organizations that help sick people come to the US.
I recently spoke with Cote. Her condition is getting a lot worse. Her lung is 3/4 filled with blood, and after all it has gone through since October, is too weak to expel it on its own. She has to come up with $1000 by friday in order to have surgery on Monday to puncture the lung and drain it.
The doctors down there can't figure out why her lung is constantly bleeding. I am trying to find some information on how to get her to the US for medical treatment. But have had no luck. Can't find the proper info on google.
Question to you: Do any of you know the names of any of the organizations that help bring sick people to the US for medical treatment? Might it be easier to get her here since she is an American citizen with a freshly renewed passport? Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. I am waiting a response from the Red Cross and the Minnesota Department of Health, and the Mayo Clinic was no help.
She wants to move back here with her kids. And since she hasn't been able to work since October, affording airline tickets on her own is nearly impossible. That is why I am trying to help find this info for her.
|Trip to Chile
Most of you know about my friend Cote who has had health issues since October of last year. And thank you all for your support in that matter. I took a trip to Chile to be with her during all this. I left here March 9th, and returned April 28th. I had a great time, all things considered. Healthwise, she had her good days and her bad days. Her and her kids were happy I was there, and so was I. I grew so attached to them that I really hated to come home.
I didn't really get a chance to see many of the sites since most of my time was used helping her and the kids. Which is completely ok, and was the main goal of the trip. I enjoyed my time there.

I hadn't heard anything from Cote or her boyfriend all day, so I called her cell thinking maybe her boyfriend would answer. She answered, still dazed from the anesthetic. The surgery went longer than anticipated, but it was a success, and she should make a full recovery soon. I am so relieved!!! Thank you all for your support through this rough time.

Cote called me a little bit ago. Surgery postponed until Wednesday.
First, I would like to thank everyone on here for their support through this time. I greatly appreciate it.
In about 4 hours, my friend Cote will be going in for what should be her final surgery. It is a long and serious procedure in which the doctors will remove the artery that has been causing the issues. Please keep her in your prayers. Thank you.

|Cote update, good news and bad news
I called Cote and had a long talk with her.
Good News: Cote is home from the hospital and healing quite well so far.
It ends up that she got a letter yesterday from her work telling her that they fired her for all the time she missed when she was in the hospital. Her utilities (gas, electric, water) will be shut off on Friday if not payed, and she will be evicted at the end of the month if rent is not paid. Long story short, she has no family she can turn to for help.
I feel bad for asking this, but she is in a real tight spot, and I am desperate to help her and her kids, and I am running out of options. This isn't the best time of year to ask, but does anyone have any money I can borrow until next month? Anything would help, and I would repay first week of January. I would like to stress the fact that I am just curious if anyone has anything lying around they can help with, if not, no worries. Just want to make that clear.
I am aiming for $600. That will get all her bills up to date so anything at all would be appreciated.
Please contact me via either email or my cell phone.

With everything that has been going on, I have forgotten to update on here, sorry for that.
The surgery was a success. Her lung has not bled for 3 days now, and she should be out of the hospital tomorrow morning. I called her and talked with her, that really lifted her spirits. Chatting with someone through facebook is nice, but actually hearing a friends voice is entirely different. She was so happy when I called(so was I of course, I miss her a lot). Her boyfriend sent me a message thanking me because he hadn't seen a smile that big on her face for a long time.
When she gets out, she can't lift anything, or walk that much for a while, but that is to be expected after something like this.
I cannot thank you all enough for all that you have done. It is very much appreciated. Current Mood: happy

|My friend in the hospital
I don't know why I didn't mention this before, but her name is Cote Ibarra Damiani. For those sending prayers, well wishes, energy, and anything else to help her, it might be better if you knew who it was you were sending them to. lol
She has had a little bit of improvement the past 24 hours. Her lung went 12 hours without bleeding, but then it started again. She has to go in for more surgery tomorrow morning.

Surgery didn't work. They found out she has severe Hemoptysis. I am trying to figure out what exactly that is. So far, all I know is that if it is mild, it is no big deal. If it is severe, well, that is exactly what it is. Not good. Current Mood: sad
After 9 hours, she is out of surgery and is sleeping. Now they need to wait 24 hours to see if they were actually able to stop the bleeding. I really hope they did, she has been through enough.
|Friend in Surgery, continued
One of my friends from my high school class had surgery on Friday. She is bleeding internally, and they found out it was with her left lung. There was a complication, and she was in surgery for over 14 hours. She was in an induced coma and they couldn't stop the bleeding. They removed her from surgery, but were unable to stop the bleeding. They had her rest on Saturday. She came out of the coma in the afternoon, and was awake this evening.
I was able to chat with her for a few minutes on Facebook. That was a real nice feeling being able to talk with her again after that scary ordeal. I did my best to calm her down, she is really scared. She has to go in for surgery again in the morning. Hopefully they have done some research in the meantime and will finally be able to get the bleeding to stop. The surgery will be at 5am our time today (she now lives in Chile). I wish we lived closer so I could be at her side.
A huge thank you to all who have helped with prayer, well wishes, and all other forms of assistance in this matter. I ask that you please continue to do so. Current Mood: Very sad

I am going to visit England for a few days. I have always wanted to go there, and now I have the chance to do so. I will be leaving on Aug. 21st, and coming home Aug. 27th.
I spend more time on Facebook than on here, obviously given the lack of posts, and there is a game on there that I really like to play called Be A Tycoon(BAT.) It is a game in which you buy and sell items with fake money, like playing the stock market, but with less risk of bankruptcy.
Anyway, in BAT, you can join groups called cartels. These groups are mainly for socializing and helping each other out in the game. A lot of the cartels have been having cartel get togethers. So, like a lemming, my cartel is doing one too.
It just so happens that most of the members in my cartel (Mutiny Cartel if any of you who read this play the game) live in England, and that is where our meet up is taking place. Since I am the owner of the cartel, it would only make sense that I be there for it.
A couple from my cartel are letting me crash at their place while I am over there, which is really nice of them. One of them has that week off from work, so he will be my tour guide and take me around to places.
The only problem is that it will obviously cost a lot of money. Since I am staying at someone's house, I don't need to rent a hotel room, saving me a lot of money. So, it is costing me $800 for round trip airfare plus spending money. My grandfather is paying for half of the airfare, and has given me some spending money, which is really nice of him. SO to visit England for 5 days, it is costing me $400 plus spending money, which is a sweet deal in my opinion.
I understand I am taking a risk by doing this, seeing as how I will be in another country staying with people I only know through a Facebook app, but I am taking my chances that they aren't axe murderers. I am really excited about the trip, and hope to have a great time.
(main downer about the trip is that England has almost nothing but bitter beer, and I hate bitter beer)

Do anyone of you have a spare USB cable for a printer? I need one.
|Sad day for the North End area.
I don't know how many of you metro area peeps read the Pioneer Press, but there was a write-up in there today about St. Bernard's School. At the end of the school year, the Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade will close, and St. Bernard's will only be a High School. The school has been a staple of the North End for 118 years.
I am curious to know if they will also close the bowling alley...I don't think so, but still a deffinate possability. They tend to do stupid things.
